Gli interessi di ricerca si concentrano sulla psicoterapia, le neuroscienze affettive e la psicologia clinica. In particolare:

• L’integrazione tra psicologia clinico-dinamica e neuroscienze affettive, con un focus sull’applicazione delle tecnologie di neuroimaging per lo studio della regolazione emozionale (incluse le forme di regolazione non volontaria ed interpersonale), della psicopatologia (disturbi della personalità, stati ansiosi e depressivi) e della psicoterapia.

• La formazione degli psicoterapeuti, attraverso ricerche longitudinali sull’efficacia dei percorsi formativi e sull’evoluzione delle competenze dei terapeuti. Questi studi sono condotti anche nell’ambito del gruppo di ricerca internazionale SPRISTAD (Society for Psychotherapy Research - Interest Section on Therapist Training and Development).

• Burnout accademico, con studi sulle variabili che influenzano la salute mentale degli studenti universitari e sull’efficacia di interventi volti alla prevenzione e al trattamento di questa problematica. Questi studi sono condotti parallelamente ad attività di terza missione volte alla promozione del benessere degli studenti presso Universitas.

• Nuove frontiere dell’intelligenza artificiale applicata al settore della psicoterapia, con sperimentazioni in vari ambiti che spaziano dalla previsione della risposta ai trattamenti psicologici, all’analisi del processo terapeutico.
